The BAE146 has two engines with hydraulic pumps and two with generators. If the aeroplane is taxied with the two engines with pumps shut down, there is only limited braking available until the hydraulic accumulators are exhausted.

On this flight, on the way to the parking gate the cockpit voice recorder captures the remark "If we go any faster, we’ll get the nose off the ground" .... it seems that they were also unaware that the autothrottle system was engaged in ’take-off’ mode.

As they approached the gate at high speed they discovered that there was no braking available, and they struck the jetway, with the results below to both it and the aeroplane. S

Strongly suggest that as requested, you ....

"Remain seated, with your seatbelt fastened, until stopped at the gate."
